The Character



A good character takes time. Sometimes lots, sometimes only a little. Here's the Basic Character sheet:

Username: Helps you keep track of who's playing who.
Character Name: The name of the character that's being played. Name tips are to follow in the FAQs.
Description: Always a good thing to have. Usually a picture, but sometimes a good written description is a better choice. Too often I've come across people who have an image, but write after it a good portion of changes, so that the original picture is pretty much not nessecary.

And then come the extras, like...
Age: How old your character is. This is good to know. Why? It helps you to know what general habits, personalities, slang and whatnot to use.
Gender: Helps with those situations that are sometimes awkward. For example, being the only male in an all girl's school, or the only female in a fight-based setting.
Race: In some fantasy settings, this may be important.
Weapons: Fighting Role Plays usually have these, as do some fantasy.
Extras: These are other things you'd like the other players to know. Not important, really, but who knows if you might need it?
Bio: Ah, the bio. The Biography of your character. If it's not required in the thread, it doesn't mean it's not important. It's usually a good idea to have one for all your characters, so they are easier to play. It doesn't have to be much, but it should be more than 3 sentences long. Why would it be easier for you to play your character with a biography? Then you know all the reasons for their quirks.

However, you should keep in mind that, at times, some thread creators will ask for only a description, nothing else. Here, the description and all tiny details are needed.
